#PentecostalLookBook Outfits!

We've been having some Technical difficulties. We will keep trying to post something at least once a week.

Today we want to share some of the "hashtagged" outfits on Instagram that we love. We love seeing the creativity that goes into styling, and being modest. We are inspired by everyone of you. We encourage you to participate by using the hashtag #pentecostallookbook. Who knows you may end up on here!! :)

Here are some outfits that inspire us. Be sure to check these ladies out on Instagram.

Top-left: @ msbethany. We love the polkadot top & the blue pumps. the blue contrasts with the black & white, and gives the outfit a pop of color. Love it!

Top-right: @ smartskirt96. We had a pocket challenge about two weeks ago, and we LOVED this skirt. Love the color, stripes, and how she combined it. A basic top with a busy skirt. And Aren't those shoes adorable?

Bottom-left: @ aby0405. The color of this skirt is amazing, and we love that she combined it with a striped top, and blazer. Very simple, yet chic!

Bottom-right: @ lache1. Perfect for fall /winter? PRINTS. We love this look because its a simple outfit with a leopard print. She took it a step further by wearing a bright color, so her outfit is accented by two things, pattern & a pop of color. Shes keeping her outfit simple by not adding too much..just enough to make it work!

Cardigans love

Lets talk Cardigans.

cardigan is a type of knit shirt that has an open front. Often, cardigans can be tied, buttoned, or zipped. Pretty simple to understand. right? They are so amazing because they serve so many purposes.  They keep you warm, modest and still stylish. We love them!!
Cardigans vary in necklines, lengths, fabrics. and length. There is many many different kinds, so we will just cover a few, and save the rest forever.  So lets get started.

1. Shrug Cardigan: a shrug’s purpose is to cover a small portion of the upper body, mainly just the arms and shoulders. They are typically cropped, have long sleeves or 3/4 length sleeves, and do not have any buttons or closures. A shrug cardigan can have a longer length on the front and back. This type of cardigan are perfect with those dresses that a busy on the top half because it won't cover too much of it.

2. Tailored Cardigan. the typical cardigan shape and style, usually with a banding at the hem, sometimes without, and which ends mid-length, or right before the hip. This we believe is the most common cardigan to find. Tailored cardigans worn open look a little boxy to us, unless you add a belt to define your waisteline.  We prefer them fitted and buttoned up a little. Since they end right before the hip and often have banding in that area, buttonning these up they can help make the waist look more cinched and prevent the hips from looking more wide. Wear these with a jean skirt.

3. Long Cardigan/Boyfriend Cardigan: these fitted or semi-fitted cardigans end mid-thigh or just below your bottom. These look good on taller girl, but shorter girls can wear these too.. just find one that’s not too long that you almost look like you’re drowning in fabric. It should be a long length that you feel comfortable wearing. We like to wear these open with an A-line or Full knee-lengthed skirt, and high heels|.

4. Cropped Cardigan: These are short cardigans. They fall right above the waist. They can also be long, 3/4, or short sleeve. These look very cute with loose-fitting feminine tops, and dresses. They make any outfit look relaxed but pretty.

The best part of cardigans? they keep you modest!
Here are some ladies that posted their outfit on our instagram.

Weekly Outfit: Old Navy

This weeks outfit is from Old Navy. Who doesn't love Old Navy?  It has it all, and it's affordable. Have you been there lately? they have so many cute things.

Shopping Tip: When shopping in Old Navy make sure you try their clothing on. I find that some of their pieces to run a bit big.

For this weeks outfit we paired this cute black & white striped dress with a  red cardigan to add some color.   We would wear this cardigan open, and added this brown belt to accent your waist. We saw these cute wedged loafers, and couldn't resist.  Are they adorable?  You could also add tights to keep warmer, and also, a scarf.

Hope you like it!!

Weekly Outfit: Forever21

So, we decided that every week we will do an inspiration  post, of where to shop and what to buy.  Basically we will be posting items from a local store, and create a cute modest outfit.  We will be posting it from the store website, but don't worry, it will be items that we have seen in the store's ourselves.

Forever 21
About:
So we will start with Forever21 because this store is basically everywhere, in Canada and United States. Forever21 is known for having trendy clothing at affordable prices.  (Affordable is definitively correct. Bought a top there on sale for $3.)  Believe it or not, this store has been around since 1984, and it was first intended for middle aged women, but I don't think this is the case anymore.  It's a great place to shop because they always have skirts, and pretty shirts. Pretty much they have everything.

Shopping Tip:
Make sure you go to forever21 with TIME!  Shopping at there can sometimes be overwhelming because there is so much to look at.  They stuff alot into one store.  Don't get overwelmed, just take it, one section at a time. Most likely, you will find something.  There is just too much in there, not too!  So be patient and determined.

Outfit:
We first saw this skirt, and decided to make an outfit with it. It's a midi-length A-line skirt, which means it totally falls under the modesty category.  It's dressy so this would be good for church.  We paired it with a simple black shirt that has a "cowl neckline", so it doesn't dress down the skirt. Tuck the shirt in, and add this cute thick waist triangle belt to add some texture to this simple outfit. We also wanted to add pops of color with these burgundy pumps, and burgundy clutch.

 Hair:
For this particular look, since it's pretty simple, you could pull of a messy hair style, or a curly one.

There you have it! Remember.. Modest is Hottest.
(lol we read that somewhere)

Guest Post: Lo's Closet

Hey Everyone,

Today we have a special guest.  She blogs over at Lo's Closet.  I will her let her introduce herself  but before she does, I would like to encourage you to check her blog out.  It's pretty awesome. We wouldn't mind having some of her clothing in our closets..

Let me introduce myself, my name is Lorena. I was born into a Pentecostal family...so all my life I have been told to dress modest.  I have had my own downfalls, but at the age of 15 I started dressing more lady like. It was a huge change from tom-boy days (over-sized hoodies and sneakers).  I grew to like dressing up for church more, but it was not until I was 17 or 18 that I started "officially" wearing high-heels for church.  Now every weekend is a highlight because I get to dress up.  (Yes! It's our favorite thing too)

Now dressing modestly is sometimes hard, its a struggle to finding skirts that are long enough AND not tight.  So far I have managed and I'm really happy about it. I love God above all and I like to please Him.

Check out her BLOG, and leave her some comments!
God Bless.

Transition Summer Dresses to Fall.

So it's finally getting cool. I'm pretty sure we all have those summer clothes that we love so much, we want to wear them all year round. Especially since its pretty difficult to find modest clothes now-a-days.

Well it's very possible to wear those clothes for more than just warm weather. Today I will be giving some tips on how you can transition a summer/spring dress to fall.

Check it out. God Bless :)

Here's for a dressy look. Say for church or so.

These are more casual but still super cute.
You can find all of these super cute items at Anthropologie

Guest Post: Diana

Hey Everyone, We would like to introduce you to Diana.  She blogs over at Retro Glam. She is all about Vintage and thrifting.. which seems to be a fave thing around here, as of recently. So give her a warm welcome and Check out her blog & shopped.. linked below.

Dress vintage thrifted , Purse thrifted , Heels vintage thrifted

My style is a mix of vintage and modern chic. But I have more vintage dresses and vintage blouses than anything else. Ever since I started high school, I would love going to the thrift stores with my mother. There I discovered pretty vintage dresses. Until this day I'm still thrift shopping and that explains why i have so many  vintage dresses and blouses. The number one reason why I love wearing vintage dresses is because I hardly ever have to worry about wearing a shirt underneath to cover up. Most vintage dresses are modesty proof. Modesty is very important for me as a Christian woman. Knowing that I'm not the only girl who is concerned about dressing modest, I decided to start my own vintage shop. Hoping that I could pass on my gently used vintage dresses and clothing to someone else that will appreciate them as much as I do.

Guest Post: Paulina Carmel

Hey Ladies,
We have a special guest with us today.  Her name is Paulina and she is the mastermind behind Paulina Carmel  Boutique.  If you visit her site you will see that everything she has is modest, and we love it!   We are glad to have her with us today, and be sure to read until the end, she has a special discount code for Pentecostal Look book readers! :)
......

"Modesty comes first from the heart, and afterward affects the way we dress, speak, and behave. A lady’s behavior will follow her beliefs, just as her attire will follow her attitude. Modesty is a quietness of behavior,  and an unaffected way of dress. Modesty is an attitude that does not demand undue attention, and it doesn’t insist on consistent praise. It is a chosen humility. It doesn’t express that the modest object isn’t worthy of attention or praise, but simply that it doesn’t demand it by speech, dress, or behavior." -Paulina Carmel De Castro

I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Paulina De Castro, and I run an online modest fashion boutique.

Growing up as an Apostolic, modesty has always been important to me. However, shopping trips were always a frustrating experience for me. As a young girl who wanted to look stylish and modest, there weren't many options. Shuffling through racks of lampshade-sized skirts, I began to imagine a store where style and modesty worked hand-in-hand.  At age 15 I decided to make that dream a reality. After much prayer, and research, my parents and I launched “PaulinaCarmel.com”, an online modest clothing store. I was 16 years old at the time.

Some years later I met my future-husband, Vinicius. He swept me off my feet. Now the two of us, happily married, run Paulina Carmel together. It our joy to provide you with the carefully chosen products you find at our online store. We merge our fashion-sense and business know-how to create a distinctive and modest line of clothing for today's Christian ladies. At our online boutique you will find a growing variety of fashionable pieces, everything from modern denim skirts, to stylish church dresses.

We realize that not everyone will agree with our expression of modesty in dress, some will think it too extreme, others will think it not extreme enough.  However, we strive to the best of our ability to provide a higher standard of stylish, feminine, modest clothing than what we are seeing in our mainstream American culture. We hope that everyone can find something that they like at our store. From very conservitive dressers, to those just learning about the importance of modesty.

We offer misses sizes XS-XXL (US sizes 0-18). Our styles come from various designers around the country. Designing a custom line of modest clothing is our real dream, and that dream is becoming a realtiy. We will be introducing our first line of custom designed denim skirts this winter. If you'd like to join our mailing list for updates email us at: paulina@paulinacarmel.com

Guest Post: Garments of Praise.

Hello Everyone,
Today we have a special guest.  Her name is Typhanie.(We love her name, it's so unique)  She writes the blog Garments of praise.  Besides having the best blog title name ever, she has an awesome sense of style. We creep her blog alot.  Be sure to check out her blog.  Her socials will be linked below. God bless :)

Top: Thrifted, Goodwill | Skirt: Forever 21 | Shoes: Thrifted, Jessica Simpson via Plato’s Closet

I’m beyond happy that the trends from more modest eras like the 40s and 50s are coming back. Classic A-line dresses, midi-length skirts, peasant-style tops and shirts are beginning to pop up in stores left and right! I’m also excited because a lot of these looks are available for much less in the thrift stores. I was never really a thrift shopper until I started reading fashion blogs late last year. I must admit, it’s fun finding new-to-me treasures (like this top!) for such reasonable prices and working them into stylishly modest outfits. Whether at a thrift store or at the mall, I love a good bargain!

Through blogging and connecting with other people like me, I’ve learned that modesty is so much more than what we put on our bodies. It’s a lifestyle. I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Pentecostal Lookbook to show just how beautiful that lifestyle is… Thank you.

So, chosen by God for this new life of love, dress in the wardrobe God picked out for you: compassion, kindness, humility, quiet strength, discipline. Be even-tempered, content with second place, quick to forgive an offense. Forgive as quickly and completely as the Master forgave you. And regardless of what else you put on, wear love. It's your basic, all-purpose garment. Never be without it. (Colossians 3:12-13 MSG)
